Relates to research conducted by Dr Patricia McMagh into the Norval line of her ancestry. Four Norval brothers, who appear to have come from Glasgow, Archibald, John senior, John Junior and William arrived at the Cape as indentured apprentices to Captain Benjamin Moodie in 1817.
Dr Patricia McMagh was descended from John William Weston Leonard and Elizabeth Howard. Three members of their family married Dixies. One of the couple's Dixie granddaighters married a Norval.
