Includes patient photographs, specimen photographs, object photographs, histology photographs, photographs of surgical procedures, radiographs (x-rays), clinical graphs, and clinical illustrations.

This collection is the accumulated product of clinical photographs produced at teaching hospitals in Cape Town affiliated with the Cape Town's medical school. With the opening of Groote Schuur Hospital (GSH) in 1938, the production of clinical photographs took place here. The photographer(s) are unidentified but it is known that the material was created by various individuals over the course of the collection's accumulation period, including technical assistants (Mr G McManus, Mr BTA Todt, and Mr CC Goosen) as well as professional and student radiographers at Groote Schuur Hospital. This collection was used for teaching in the University of Cape Town's Department of Surgery.
