Biographical history
Dr TB Davie (1895-1955) was Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Town between 1948 and 1955. He was a staunch opponent of the extension of apartheid in university education and was prominent in resisting the curtailing of academic freedom.

The collection comprises miscellaneous material, such as personal documents related to Davie's medical career, correspondence, photographs, newspaper clippings, photographs, notes, speeches and addresses given as Vice-Chancellor, publications, as well as letters of condolence and obituaries.
