Unknown. The album has been examined by Dr Elizabeth van Heyningen, an authority on the concentration camps, and her notes about it are on the administrative file. The provenance remains unclear but it can be surmised that either the photographs had a philanthropic (possibly Quaker) connection with someone travelling around the country, or were connected with Captain Panton, who may have been running the Tweespruit refugee camp for people who had no farm to return to after the war.
