Transcript of interview with Gertrude Vopel of Vereeniging. Born in Warsaw, Poland, in 1904. Father was a footwear manufacturer. Father died in the First World War and mother and sister and mother were killed in the Holocaust. Immigrated to South Africa in 1921 to join an uncle in the country. Lived in Umtata, Bloemfontein, Johannesburg and Vereeniging. Interviewer: Veda Hawell.
