Transcript of interview with Rev Shlomo Backon of Johannesburg. Born in Galicia (now Hungary) in 1899. Father was a cantor. Lived in England from 1922 to 1926 and immigrated to South Africa in 1926. Many members of family died in the Holocaust. Interviewee was also a cantor in England, Benoni and Yeoville. Interviewer: Arthur Janks.
