Transcript of interview with Benny Gillis of Cape Town. Born in Oudtshoorn in 1890 and was mayor of Oudtshoorn, 1937-1939. Moved to Cape Town in 1952. Father was born in a town on the German-Russian border and mother in England. Father immigrated to South Africa in the 1870s and became a feather dealer in Oudtshoorn. Interviewer: John Simon.
