Transcript of interview with Hymie Epstein of Cape Town. Born in 1899 in England and immigrated with family to South Africa in 1902. Father came from Lithuania and mother from Manchester, England. Family lived in Cape Town. Father ran a small transport business and mother a boarding house in first years in Cape Town. Apart from a few years in Johannesburg (1919-1922) he spent life in Cape Town. Worked as a conductor on the tramways, a security officer and a clerk at the traffic department.
