Transcript of interview with Esther Wides of Cape Town. Born in De Aar, Northern Cape, in 1920. Parents immigrated to South Africa from Latvia. Father was a watchmaker and shopkeeper. Interviewee worked as a clerk, becoming the financial director of two major companies. Lived in De Aar until 1937, in Cape Town from 1937 to 1940, in Pretoria from 1940 to 1942, in Port Elizabeth from 1942 to 1945, and setlled permanently in Cape Town in 1945.
