Transcript of interview with Esther Newman of Cape Town. Born in Latvia in 1889. Immigrated to South Africa with mother and siblings about 1905. Father had immigrated about 1899. He was a "tocher" (pedlar). He died 10 months after family's arrival in South Africa. She was a typist. Interviewer: Sara Pascal.
