Transcript of interview with Charles (Hanke) Migdal. Born in Poland in 1908. Immigrated to South Africa in 1921. He was one of the orphans brought to South Africa by Isaac Ochberg. Parents were shopkeepers. Interviewee lived in Cape Town from 1921 to 1923, Durban from 1923 to 1941, Caledon from 1941 to 1951 and settled permanently in Cape Town from 1951. He was, at times, a shopkeeper, commercial traveller, and after return to Cape Town, a manager of the kosher meat counter at a supermarket. Interviewer: Eva Horwitz.
