Transcript of interview with Professor Simon Herman of Cape Town. Born in Port Elizabeth in 1912. Parents were born in Lithuania and immigrated to South Africa. Father was a merchant before immigrating; in South Africa he was am ostrich farmer, farming in Uitenhage, Kirkwood district, Albertinia, Mossel Bay, Oudtshoorn and Richmond. After the slump in ostrich feathers he moved into commerce. Interviewee was an academic at the University of Cape Town and involved in several Jewish organisations. Interviewer: Milton Shain.
