The collection was donated in 2015 by two brothers, Sybe and Rinke Starkenburg. Although originally from the Netherlands, both of them now reside in Worcester in the Western Cape.

Scope and content
The collection contains material from their parents, Janke and Teunis Starkenburg, whose brave actions in sheltering the Franken family during the war led to their posthumous recognition as Righteous Amongst the Nations by Yad Vashem on behalf of the State of Israel. The collection contains published speeches by Adolf Hitler printed in Dutch, as well as a booklet in Dutch counteracting Nazi propaganda efforts. It also includes the memoirs of Janke Starkenberg, providing a chronicle of her experiences during the war.

Janke and Teunis are list on Yad Vasehm's database of Righteous Among the Nations. The couple were recognized as Righteous Gentiles posthumously in 2010 for sheltering the Franken family during the Holocaust.
