The cabin plan of the SS Stuttgart a twin-screw passenger steamship printed in 1926. The Stuttgart was built in 1923 in Stettin, Poland by Vulcan Werke for the North German Lloyd Company. In 1936 the Hilfsverein with the assistance of Jewish organisations outside of Germany, chartered the ship to transport five hundred and thirty- seven Jewish refugees from Nazi Germany to South Africa. When the boat arrived in Cape Town on the 27th of October 1936. the passengers were greeted by the grey shirts, a South African Nazi movement which demonstrated on the docks waving flags with swastikas on them and shouting antisemitic slogans. When the passengers disembarked the local Jewish community helped the refugees to start a new life in South Africa. The Stuttgart was later sold to the Nazi German labour front in 1938 through Joy cruising. In 1943 it was bombed by the Allies and sunk near Gdynia, Poland

The map was donated to the Cape Town Holocaust and Genocide Centre in 2016 by the Jewish Maritime League.
