A Silver and red enamel cross with a central medallion bearing the three sliver towered castle arms of Hamburg. On the reverse side the follwing words are engraved: 'Fur verdienst im krige 1914'( for services in the war). These medals were created by the three Hanseatic cities Hamburg,Bremen and Lubeck for meritorious services during World War I.
