Scope and content

Picture postcard featuring Adolf Hitler, Der Fuhrer, with a young boy in the wooded Hintersee region in the Bavarian Alps, not far from the Berghof (Eagle's Nest), which served as Adolf Hitler's home in the Obersalzberg near Berchtesgaden. Hitler spent more time in Berghof than anywhere else during the war. This widely distributed propaganda image was taken by Heinrich Hoffmann, Hitler's official photographer, and served to depict Hitler as a trusted leader and guardian of German youth.
