Scope and content

This file contains various collective agreements between the retail company, Pick 'n Pay, and the trade union, South African Catering and Commercial Allied Workers' Union and its predecessor, CCAWUSA .
The first set of documents was tabled by the parties during a fact finding process initiated under the auspices of the CCMA regarding the relationship between the parties in the Western Cape and includes agreements dating from 1986 to 2005.
The second set of documents dated 2007-2008 related to a process initiated by the parties themselves, following the referral of a dispute to the CCMA. Neither this dispute nor the process were formally concluded.

Note

Pick ‘n Pay became the dominant retail chain in South Africa in the 1980s (a position it has perhaps since surrendered to Shoprite-Checkers) at about the same time as CCAWUSA (which has since become SACCAWU) was establishing itself as the dominant trade union in the retail sector.
