The document originated from the Ottoman scholar Prof. Mahmud Fakih Emin Effendi who died at his home, 71 Wale Street in the Bo-Kaap in 1913. The manuscript might have been handwritten by Effendi himself or a student at his school at 14 Castle Street, Cape Town.
