Letterbook of the South African subcommittee, originally called the Lady Lansdown Fund, launched in February 1900 in London. Its purpose was to bring relief to officers' wives and their children who were in straightened circumstances. Princess Christian of Schleswig-Holstein was President of the Cape fund.
