Biographical history

Zelda Friedlander lived in Cape Town and was a researcher and writer of both fiction and non-fiction. She published books on Olive Schreiner and Jan Smuts, the latter being Jan Smuts Remembered: A Centennial Tribute (Cape Town, Timmins, 1970).

Donated by Miss Zelda Friedlander in 1973 and 1982, and by Mr Peter Horwitz and Ms B M Horwitz in 1984.

Scope and content

MSS and correspondence with individuals, re Frielander's book "Jan Smuts remembered; a centennial tribute" (1970). Biographical notes on several prominent South Africans. MSS of articles and short stories by Zelda Friedlander and related correspondence. Minute-books of the Cape Peninsula Joint Council of Europeans and Bantu, 1938-1949.
