The Liberal Party came into being after the General Election of 1953. It was to embrace the ideals of non-racial democracy and universal suffrage. The party enjoyed limited support and had ± 40 members arrested or banned in the early 1960s. It was disbanded in 1968 with the prohibition of political interference Act. Mr W B West was an executive member of the party.
