History
Born in Lithuania, Solly Disner came to Cape Town at the age of 18. He worked as a grocer in Retreat until at the age of 32, when he resolved to become a sculptor. Entirely self-taught, his work was acclaimed by critics in his first and second exhibitions (1960, 1962) as being in the front rank of South African sculptors.
