English translation by RF Ross of JL de Villiers' account of how he escaped from a British prisoner of war camp in India during the Anglo-Boer War ["Hoe Ik Ontsnapte", Amsterdam, H”veker and Wormser, c.1903].Biographical information about the Meintjes family. Letter (1833), from Rocco Catoggio, an Italian settler at the Cape giving his views of life at the Cape and about the proposed freeing of the slaves.
