Biographical history
Robert E Selley arrived in Port Elizabeth from London in 1946 to become organist at St Mary's Church, City Organist and Director of Music for Port Elizabeth. In the 1950s he became the first permanent music teacher of Grey High School, starting the brass band in 1961.

Chronologically arranged scrapbooks containing newspaper clippings, programmes, photographs and correspondence regarding the career of Robert Selley. The first file is inscribed "The Life and Work of Mr Robert Selley, affectionately called THE MAESTRO or MR MUSIC OF PORT ELIZABETH. Compiled by Anita Kohler".
