Biographical history
Phyllis Klotz is currently the Artistic Director of the Sibikwa Arts Centre which she co-founded with Smal Ndaba over twenty one years ago. Phyllis has been involved in developmental theatre for many years and has been the recipient of several awards for her work and contribution to South African theatre amongst these awards is the Naledi Life Time Achievement award. She is recognized as an expert in the development of community art centres and has worked in South African and Mozambique to assist centres to build their capacity.
She is a founder member of GOMACC and currently the vice chairperson. She has been instrumental in formulating education and training programmes and programming in arts centres as well assisting to formulate a vision for the organization. Currently she is a member of the Community Art Centres National Task Team, a member of the MAPPP –SETA , advisory committee and a member of the State Theatre Board.
