The material in this collection was donated in 2015 by Jane and Vincent Carruthers to whom the material had been bequeathed by Mollie Earle in the 1970s, and who had expressed the wish that it would ultimately be deposited with the University of Cape Town Libraries or a similar institution.

The material in this collection comprises five books, mostly inscribed, a small number of letters including two from Olive Schreiner and two from Cronwright-Schreiner, and press clippings.
