History

Lilli Kraus (née Dreyfuss) , contralto and singing teacher, studied singing in Nuremberg with Frau Schnabel, wife of pianist and conductor, Artur Schnabel. She came to South Africa with her husband, Lothar Krauss, in about 1934. She taught singing at the South African College of Music at the University of Cape Town from 1937 to 1949.
