Photocopies of documents in connection with the application by smallholders in the Leliefontein community, Namaqualand, who found their communal farming land occupied by others when they returned from their winter grazing, to have their land restored to them.
The Supreme Court found in 1988 that they had been wrongfully deprived of their land and the Minister of Local Government, Housing and Agriculture in the House of Representatives was ordered to restore it to them.
Documents include land grant by Sir G Cathcart, 1854, maps, lists of registered owners, interviews, correspondence, applications to lease farms.
