The Julia Elliott Papers were presented to the University of Cape Town in 1977 by Miss Julia Elliott, a sister of Dr Guy Elliott, and number 643 items. The collection consists mainly of letters to Julia Elliott and her mother Mrs Claire Elliott from Mrs Isie Smuts during the period 1950-1954. There are also letters from her brother Professor Guy Elliott who was the doctor who attended both Gen. and Mrs Smuts. Miss Elliott formed a deep attachment for the Smuts family and collected any press cutting which could be related to them. These are also in the collection. There are no restrictions on the use of the collection, but permission should first be obtained from the University Librarian.
