History
Jack and Lily Hochman immigrated to South Africa from Rozdal, Poland, in 1932. They were accompanied by Lily’s parents, sister and two brothers. They settled in Engcobo where Jack Hochman had a small photographic studio and then in Port Elizabeth where he had Hochman’s studio in Princes Street until 1940, when he bought Fripps Photography. David and Blanche Serwator, their daughter, took over Fripps Photogaphy in the 1980s moving from Jetty Street to Main Street a few years later. They moved to Greenacres Mall in the 1990s and retired and sold the business in 2007.
