Biographical history

The collection consists of photographs of buildings (and some landscapes) in South Africa, taken by the architect Graeme Binckes, and his wife, Helen, between 1961 and 1976. Graeme Binckes was president of the Cape Town Vernacular Society at the time. Helen Binckes was an art teacher.

Scope and content

Photographs of domestic and other buildings in Cape Town and elsewhere in South Africa, taken while members of the Vernacular Architecture Society. All photographs are identified and dated.
