Scope and content

A collection of correspondence, etc, relating to the Rt Hon. F S Malan (1871-1941), comprising in the main letters to him in his capacity as Editor of “Ons Land” or as Secretary of the Afrikander Bond’s “Commissie van Toezicht op Elekties”, the Chairman of which was the Hon. J H “Onze Jan” Hofmeyr.

All letters are addressed to F S Malan, unless otherwise stated. Several letters include notes by Malan re his replies

1. Correspondence and telegrams relating to a proposed Agricultural Commission, 1904, e.g., autograph letter signed by A J Fuller (Secretary for Agriculture), draft letters of F S Malan, two autograph letters by T P Theron (M.L.A. for Richmond and Chairman of the Afrikaner Bond), T.L.S. by A J Fuller, two A.L.S. by (Sir) J H Meiring Beck, etc. In his draft letter of 15 Nov 1904, Malan writes to Fuller that he declines to serve on the Commission.
