Simon’s Town, situated 45 kilometres from the Cape Town city centre, is the southern-most town in the Cape Peninsula. From Murdoch Valley in the south to Glencairn in the north and over the Redhill Mountains, coloured people have been settled there for more than two centuries. In 1967 Simon’s Town was declared a white group area, forcing coloured residents to relocate to Ocean View. Interviews focus on memories of Simon’s Town and interviewees’ subsequent forced removal to Slangkop, later known as Ocean View Township.
