Langa, established in 1927, is the oldest formal township in Cape Town. These interviews are conducted with Langa residents, predominantly local church leaders and ministers. Themes include: Africanisation of the Christian church; community work; customs; employment; family backgrounds in the Eastern Cape; hostel life; job reservation; music; Pass Laws; politics between the 1950s and 1960s; religious comparisons; schooling; sport; youth groups.
