Atlantis and Mamre are industrialised and farming areas respectively, located about 40km from Cape Town. These communities were established to house coloured residents, following the Group Areas Act of 1957. Eighty residents forcibly removed from the Northern suburbs of Cape Town and now living in Atlantis are interviewed. Themes include: childhood memories; emotional consequences; games; life histories; neighbours; political environment; schooling; work experience. This project was conducted in partnership with Radio Atlantis, a community radio station broadcasting from the area.
