History
The Community Media Trust (CMT) was established as a sister movement to the Treatment Action Campaign (TAC) by Zackie Achmat and Jack Lewis and is dedicated to production of HIV/AIDS and related health media. For the first six years the organisation filmed almost all of TAC's actions, meetings and congresses with the express purpose of creating an historical record of this period. Since 1999 the organisation has produced a television series focusing on many aspects of the HIV pandemic. The archive is also particularly rich on the work and history of the AIDS Law Project (now a Section 27 company), another historically important organisation closely linked to the TAC. The Community Media Trust Collection includes both raw footage as well as the final episodes created and aired by CMT.
