The collection was originally divided into four main headings by Advocate Kahanovitz, namely:

1. CCB TRC AMNESTY HEARINGS,

2. ASSASSINATION – MISCELLANEOUS FINDINGS,

3. MATERIAL USED IN PREPARING FOR THE INQUEST INTO THE ASSASSINATION OF ANTON LUBOWSKI HELD IN WINDHOEK NAMIBIA IN 1994

4. THE UPINGTON 25 CASE

The archivist has simplified this further to 3 basic headings with sub-headings. The material consists of trial records and includes evidence, affidavits and court proceedings. The material centres round the special forces unit of the South African Defence Force, the Civil Cooperation Bureau (CCB). Operatives were recruited and given missions that in certain well-known cases included assassinations of enemies of the apartheid state who were supportive of the ANC, PAC or SACP. The Upington 25 case is a historical case in that it saw 25 people judged guilty for the murder of one municipal policeman. 14 of the accused were sentenced to death. Never before in South African history had so many people been found guilty of a single homicide and never before had so many people been sentenced to death for one homicide.
