This small collection consists of memorabilia relating to Dr J Smuts, a medical doctor, who was a student at the South African College in 1830, and to Isabella Helen Spiers Botha, later Mrs Van der Meulen, the mother of the donor, who was the daughter of Rev. MC Botha who was for many years a minister of St. Stephens in Cape Town.
