This Xhosa drama is adapted from the novel, Hill of Fools by Randall Langa Peteni, published in 1976. Bhuqa and Khanda are best friends. Bhuqa is a Thembu and is in love with Zuziwe, who is a Hlubi maiden. U Khanda warns Bhuqa, advising him to stop seeing Zuziwe because her clan is ruled by Lita, who is also the leader of a troublesome gang of Hlubi youths. Bhuqa does not feel threatened and continues his relationship with Zuziwe. Even though Zuziwe is uncertain of her feelings for Bhuqa, she wants nothing to do with her chosen suitor, Ntabeni. The relationship starts a serious conflict between the Hlubi and Thembu clans. This classic Xhosa drama closely resembles William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Cast: Willie Thambo, Amanda Quwe, Vuyisile Bojana, Thobeka Maqhutyana, Timmy Kwebulana. * Title not on aleph.
